Our Story
The Mission Hub exists to help disciples build a culture of prayer, leadership, and mission, so that together we can fulfil the Great Commission: to go and make disciples.
Mission Hub Story
The Mission Hub journey began four years ago. Scattered across parishes throughout the country, a group of us felt a growing longing for renewal. We were passionate, hopeful, and committed to seeing our parishes come alive in Christ — yet many of us also felt isolated.
In that place of holy discontent, God did something simple and profound: He connected us. Informally. Sporadically. Unexpectedly. We began to share ideas and struggles, learn together, grounded in prayer. We encouraged one another and shared what God was doing in our hearts and parishes.
We were often drawn to the same events — the Divine Renovation Open House in Taupō, the Ablaze Conference in Christchurch, Divine Renovation in Sydney, and most recently at the Hope & Renewal Summit in Palmerston North. Over three years we all had our discipleship journeys nourished by the Foundations of Missionary Leadership Programme with the Areté Centre in Sydney. We took great joy and delight in connecting in person when and where the opportunity arose.
And through every encounter, zoom call, and conversation, something grew.
Hope deepened.
Vision sharpened.
Friendship strengthened.
We didn’t set out to build anything. We simply followed Jesus, guided by the Holy Spirit. We supported one another and kept saying yes — yes to prayer, yes to mission, yes to hope.
In the lead-up to the Hope & Renewal Summit held at Palmerston North in October 2025 we felt strongly that it couldn’t just be an inspiring, life-giving event. We wanted people to return to their parishes equipped, encouraged, and ready to make a difference — to strengthen connections, grow in mission, and build up others.
Mission Hub NZ was born
At the same time, the Catholic Enquiry Centre was developing a new initiative to build a network of disciples who could support one another in faith and mission. It became clear that these two efforts were deeply aligned. And so, we joined forces.
Today, more than 250 people are actively engaged with Mission Hub NZ. Together, we continue to fuel the fire of renewal in Aotearoa New Zealand: praying, encouraging one another, and faithfully renewing our parishes in Christ.
The spark has become a flame. And by God’s grace, it will continue to grow.
The Mission Hub exists to help disciples build a culture of prayer, leadership, and mission, so that together we can fulfil the Great Commission: to go and make disciples.
We believe renewal happens when disciples are:
- Rooted in prayer
- Sustained by community
- Strengthened through ongoing formation and connection
What began as a spark has become a small fire.
We pray it becomes a flame that spreads across our nation.
And now, we invite others to join us—
To fan this flame of mission, encouragement, and hope across Aotearoa New Zealand.
